Experience

  1. Dec 2025 – Sep 2026

    Software Engineer · Karoo Health

    Remote

    • Maintained a Manifest V3 Chrome extension used daily by clinical staff. Solved page-isolation limits by injecting code into the page's own JS world, and shipped role-based filtering that fails closed for unknown users.
    • Built a 12-stage GitLab CI/CD pipeline with ESLint and 983 Jest tests at 70%+ coverage, run on every release.
    • Engineered an event-capture system on AWS Lambda and Aurora Postgres, provisioned with Terraform.
    • Built Python automation that exported roughly 1,300 documents over six months, rewritten from browser automation to direct API calls and kept working through three vendor platform changes. Also built clients for 16 FHIR R4 resource types.
    • Brought version control, peer review and Dev, Test and Prod promotion to a Power BI and Fabric workflow, and trained a team of analysts on it.
  2. Apr 2025 – Dec 2025

    Software Engineer · OpenVoices

    Remote

    • Developed a Flutter and Firebase social app for peer-to-peer mental health and wellness support, with chat, live video conversations and recorded replays.
    • Integrated Stripe for payments, Agora for video calls and AWS S3 for call recordings, and added Google Analytics through database triggers.
    • Diagnosed a race condition that started recordings before a participant's camera and microphone were live, and a group-chat bug where consecutive messages from one sender never reached the other members.
    • Added concurrency handling and an in-app video player for recorded content.
  3. Jun 2024 – Jun 2026

    Software Engineer · Personalized Medicine

    Remote

    • Built the literature pipeline behind a database of 2K+ food and cancer interactions from 1M+ studies. Claude, GPT and Gemini analyzed each text independently and were cross-checked, reaching about 92% accuracy against expert extraction, with deterministic code gating the safety-critical outputs.
    • Developed the NutriLiv and MealGrove apps in Flutter and FlutterFlow on Firebase for 10K+ users. NutriLiv's meal plans pass through a five-stage safety filter (cancer type, treatment, allergies, dislikes, side effects) before scoring, with a three-tier cache that cut plan generation from about 17 s to 10 s.
    • Integrated RevenueCat with the Meta Conversions API through a server-side webhook, built Typesense search at about 200 ms, and added Google and Meta Analytics and AppsFlyer.
    • Built an Appium validation framework for Android and iOS, and a GitHub-issue-to-review automation loop for a small team.
  4. Aug 2022 – Nov 2025

Software Engineer · NC State University & Natural Learning Initiative

Raleigh, NC · M.S. Computer Science

    • Built the Django assessment platforms (COLEQT, then OPALS) that replaced a paid Qualtrics subscription for a nonprofit research group.
    • Designed a Selenium pipeline that collected and cleaned 20M+ auction records from 30 sources over 24 years, trained XGBoost price forecasts at about 12% mean absolute error, and built a pgvector index over 20M embedded listings to find comparable sales.
    • Shipped a Dockerized Django and PostgreSQL REST service with Tableau dashboards, a RAG chatbot over 1K+ documents, an n8n and Gemini workflow that summarizes meetings and manages follow-ups, and a Django and MySQL student-records app for 5K+ records.

J's Cleaners AI receptionist web page with a Call Jenny button

Voice AI · Full-stack

J's Cleaners AI Receptionist

A voice agent that answers calls in the browser, quotes exact prices from the owner's facts, and takes callbacks when it can't help. Totals come from a deterministic quote calculator, never from the LLM. An owner dashboard shows every call and transcript, and lets the owner edit prices and hours with versioned saves, so the next call uses the change without a redeploy.

Demo Recorder

An MCP server that gives Claude Code browser hands. Give it a goal like "record a demo of filtering products and checking out" and the agent reads the app's code, works out the click path, drives a real browser, and returns a finished screen recording with cursor, highlights and zoom. No steps are scripted. When a click misses, the tool returns the page state so the agent can adjust.

NutriLiv

Cancer-nutrition app on iOS and Android, available worldwide. I was a developer on it: Flutter screens for onboarding, search, intake tracking, saved lists and subscriptions, backed by Firebase and Typesense search. I also worked on a Python pipeline that parses recipe ingredients into canonical SI units, links them to a master ingredient table and uploads the result to Firestore.

OpenVoices

Peer-to-peer mental health and wellness community app. Members chat in DMs and groups, join live video conversations, watch recorded replays, find IRL groups in their city, pick the topics they care about, and support each other with donations. I developed it in Flutter on a Firebase backend, with Agora for live video, AWS S3 for recordings and Stripe for payments.

COLEQT assessment form page listing play and learning settings as checkboxes with a progress bar

Web · Django · Data

COLEQT Assessment Tool

Web tool that digitized a 60-question paper instrument for rating outdoor learning environments at child-care centers, replacing a paid Qualtrics subscription. A four-page form collects which play and learning settings are present, plus measurements such as total area and tree and shrub counts, and derives coverage levels from them. At the end it scores the responses, draws a "Best Practice Summary" bar chart with matplotlib, and emails the report to the user.

OPALS assessment form page 2 with yes/no questions and a progress bar

Web · Django

OPALS Assessment Platform

Multi-page assessment wizard for evaluating outdoor learning environments at child-care centers. Answers carry across six pages through the session, a progress bar tracks completion, and later sections appear or hide depending on the age groups the user picks on page one. Page-four scoring turns counts of selected settings into 1 to 4 levels. A follow-up to COLEQT for the same organization, reusing its look and flow.

ScreenTranslate

Say "Hey Siri, translate my screen". It captures the front window with ScreenCaptureKit, runs Vision OCR, sorts the text into reading order and shows an on-device translation in a floating panel. Siri and Shortcuts entry through App Intents, plus a menu-bar trigger.

SecondScreen

Turns an iPad into a second display for a Mac over Wi-Fi. The Mac captures the screen with ScreenCaptureKit, encodes H.264, and streams it over TCP. The iPad receiver decodes and renders it. Split into a Mac streamer, a shared Swift package and an iPad app.

Job Application Assistant

A small macOS background tool built on Hammerspoon. One hotkey screenshots the screen and either types the answer into the field you're in or pops it up, using your own resume and notes as context and Claude Code for the answer.

Mobile · Realtime

KnightChase

Real-time two-player chess-knight game for phones. Create a room, share a 4-character code, and trap or capture your opponent on an 8×8 board where every square you leave is blocked for good. Game state syncs through Firebase.

ChromaRush

Hide-and-seek where hiders paint themselves to blend into the map. Per-body-part 3D texture painting with a full HSV color picker and eyedropper, eight camouflage poses, wall and ceiling cling, and a first-person seeker with a tag gun, whistle audio cues and procedural effects. A GameManager drives the phases: lobby, prep, hunt, results. Accounts, rooms and the lobby run on Firebase Auth and Cloud Functions over REST.
